Prayer
Phil. 4: 6, 7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Prayer is an integral part of the Christian's life that has made a commitment to follow the role model that Christ set. The Gospels repeatedly report that Jesus: "went up on the mountain by Himself to pray" or "departed to the mountain to pray" and "Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,¡K"
The Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy;
"Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 6who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, 7for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle¡XI am speaking the truth ?Tin Christ and not lying¡Xa teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting; 1 Timothy 2: 1-8 (NKJ)
Dove Christian Center provides an opportunity for those especially interested in intercessory pray to meet two times during the week apart from the regular worship and ministry services.
Wednesday at 9:00 A.M. a women's prayer group meets at the church for a period of prayer for current concerns and prayer requests that have been submitted to the church.
Friday at 7:00 A.M. intercessory prayers meet for a period of one hour again to intercede for those requests that have been submitted and for concerns as the Lord leads. Prayer works! |
