Pastor Serge is operating out of his car using his laptop and cell phone. He is keeping his post and coordinating relief efforts within his sphere, which covers quite a bit of territory. The group from Trinidad are still there and more will be returning from Dominican Republic soon. Amongst those coming are doctors, nurses and support people of all kinds. Doors are slowly opening to purchase some goods in Haiti, but much of it still needs to brought in by the groups arriving.

To date DCC has received $18,738 in donations, with more coming in every day. In addition, outside links we know of have donated an additional $10,500 to assist Serge directly. We have dispersed $4,083 and plans are now being made to buy food and supplies and send them in with contacts we have. Serge will inform us as to the best means to keep the flow going in. Due to the generosity of so many caring people we'll have the funds to release as soon as we get the signal--we want to be wise stewards of these funds entrusted into our care! God bless all of you for big hearts of compassion! GJ

At our Friday AM prayer meeting we petitioned God, "Please open up the communication line to Haiti & let us hear something today!" Then I received the following (unedited) from Serge, along with instruction on how to get our funds directly to him:
Hi Gary and Evelyn Johnson,
The church people are still worry because time to time we have some shaking. Let's keep on praying until situations get back to normal hoping everything is alright knowing that God is in control and having his eyes upon his people always even in the midst of the worst cahotic situation in the front of the Church Sunday until we repair the church. I spoke with Don Mustard last week. I will call you good to hear from you. Monday I received 81 people from Dominicain Republic and 75 from Trinidad Tobaco. They come with money doctors and nurses the bring much water food medecine we did have clinic in many places.

Keep praying Gary for more help much love. Serge

Steve Tucker was detained getting into Haiti on Thursday due to the additional quake. He is now planning to go in through the Dominican Republic. He has a contact there who can take him to the border where Serge will pick him up. Steve's father had a heart attack last week with initial reports of significant heart damage; he went home today with a much better diagnosis. Let's give God all the glory! AS of today, $10,500 has come in directly to Dove Christian Center. In addition friends we have introduced to Serge gave $9,500 and $1,000 respectively for a combined total of $21,000.00! Please pray that Steve can now get in without further delay. Thanks helping--God keeps good records! Pastor Gary Johnson

A new 7000 KW Air Cooled, portable, heavy duty, Diesel Generator has been donated by a local merchant. It will be shipped as soon as we get clearance. We have one source we have worked with in the past who are gearing up for Haiti Relief.

Steve Tucker of Bridge Builders International, a trusted friend, will be departing for Haiti on Thursday, January 21. Steve knows the ropes and has ministered in tough places like the Amazon. He will hand deliver relief directly to Serge, including much needed water purifying bottles. On site he will assess what action we should take next and intends to stay on the ground there through March. We now have the means to get funds to Steve immediately while there, and other associates of his will be leaving soon to join him.

Both pastors Serge Coulanges and Jean Romaine are alive! I had a lengthy conversation with Serge on Saturday—we can now contact him by email and cell phone. There were fifty people sleeping in his yard without food or water as of then, but knowing him he has found a way to by now. He is a tough resilient individual who had emergency surgery in Haiti without anesthetics about six months ago, and is back on his feet!

Six in Jean’s Boys Home were injured but not life threatening. Their buildings were destroyed; the initial report about Serge’s hospital gives a glimmer of hope. The top floor of the hospital collapsed but the remaining building might be able to be restored. It was built recently with a lot of reinforcement.

A dear faithful brother, Steve Tucker with Bridge Builders International, is leaving for Haiti Thursday, Jan. 24th and is planning to stay through March. He’ll be taking financial support, tarps, water purifying kits, and other supplies with him while he assesses things; others will follow soon afterwards. He is the right man for the job having been there a couple of times; and has also ministered in the Amazon!

Drinking water is the biggest need and we have ordered a large supply of water purifiers from Triumphant Mercy Ministries who have been supplying 3rd world countries with these for some time now. They will literally purify the worst polluted water you can imagine; I know their Administrator personally.

Serge Coulanges’ son Ralph who had just been given Administration duties for his hospital will be going there through the Dominican republic and will be arriving on February 2nd as it stands now.
